Lavender 'Munstead' is named after Gertrude Jekyll's Surrey home. The plant makes a fast growing yet compact mound of grey green leaves which have the usual strong lavender scent. Narrow spikes of purple blue flowers appear on upright, wiry stems over a long season through summer. Clip lightly to keep the plants in shape once they have flowered. Grow in full sun and well drained soil as Lavenders resent winter wet. Lavender 'Munstead' can also be grown in a large pot on a sunny patio - plant into gritty soil. Loved by butterflies and bees.
Please dont panic if a plant looks different to the image on the Website. It is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just resting before it bursts into action in the coming season.
Plants do look very different throughout the year. Particularly in winter, many shrubs will look rather bare and stick-like and perennial plants may not even be showing through the soil.
