Large, sweet flavoured, dark berries are ready to pick in July and can be used immediately, frozen or made into jam and jelly. Tayberries are a cross between Blackberries and Raspberries and should be grown in a sunny spot on wires where they can be trained. Cut out old, fruited canes in autumn and tie in the young, summer growth which will fruit the following year. Tayberries do best in moist but well drained soil, given a good mulch of well rotted manure in spring.
Please dont panic if a plant looks different to the image on the Website. It is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just resting before it bursts into action in the coming season.
Plants do look very different throughout the year. Particularly in winter, many shrubs will look rather bare and stick-like and perennial plants may not even be showing through the soil.
