Anthurium - Pink Champion - 17cm
This amazing house plant has lush looking foliage and amazing flowers with waxy-looking, pink heart-shaped flowers, each with a yellow tip. Reminding you of a Flamingo, these flowers are relatively easy and reliable - and great if you want to add some colour to a bright room or conservatory. Water freely when in growth, but keep dryer in winter. Mist the leaves regularly with water to increase humidity.
The name Anthurium is of Greek origin. “Anthos” meaning Tail and “Oura” meaning flower, thus the common reference of this beauty to as the “tail flower”. It blooms all year round, some varieties have deeply veined foliage, while others feature large leaves. Due to their long-lasting colours, they are popular house centre pieces during the Christmas holidays. Flower colour ranges from white, pink, and red with contrasting spadix. They are grown for their beauty and air purification abilities. Anthuriums are uniquely pretty; they too respond to light stimuli by either moving their leaves towards or away from the sun.

Plant care
How much sun: Either or a combination of partial shade and full shade
Where to place: Place your Anthurium in a warm spot where it receives bright indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage. It can tolerate lower lighting environments (slow growth).
Temperature & Humidity: Anthurium is a tropical plant hence requires a high humidity and temperatures between 65° F and 85° F. In dry environments, make sure that the plants are misted.
Watering: Ensure that the soil is moist at all times. The bottom pot tray can be set with some gravel and water, to ensure that there is enough humidity around the flower. Water the plant once a week if the plant is indoors.
Plant Nutrition: Apply liquid fertilizer on a weekly basis during spring and summer. Make sure that the fertilizer is diluted to a quarter of its concentration. Fertilizers high in phosphorous are best suited to encourage blooming. Do not provide nutrients during winter.
Toxicity: Keep out of reach from children and pets as all plant parts are poisonous. When ingested, it may cause inflammation.
