Phalaenopsis are one of the most popular indoor orchids worldwide with diverse colours and patterned blooms. Moth orchids are epiphytic plants with roots that appear above-ground largely growing outdoors in the tropical jungle and indoors as pot plants. Their beauty is fascinating as it looks unreal owing to their perfection. These unique, gorgeous divas widely grown for their rare beauty. They are love at first sight! The genus Phalaenopsis, is great for beginners as it’s easy to care for. They are aesthetically stunning with blooms lasting up to four months in shades of white, pink, and lavender, yellow. What wouldn’t you love about these beauties? They are a symbol of love, strength and beauty.

Plant care

How much sun: A combination of either partial shade or full shade.

Where to place: Place your Moth orchid in a spot where it can receive some bright indirect lighting.

Temperature & Humidity: Moth orchids requires warmer temperatures between 75° F and 85° F but can adapt to room temperatures of up to 65° F. Enjoys high humidity environment hence the need for a fan to constantly run to minimize diseases, fungus and rot.

Watering: Embrace a weekly watering regime or when you spot their roots turn whitish in colour. Always keep the potting media moist and mainly water in the morning hours. Avoid overwatering as it will cause rotting of new leaves and eventual death of the plant.

Plant Nutrition: Fertilize on a weekly rate during the growing season. Some growers also apply a blooming fertilizer during flowering season to provoke floral spikes.

Toxicity: They are pet-friendly. They are non-toxic to cats, horses and dogs.
