The leathery leaves of the Vriesea oberon have a stunning maroon-green colour and form into funnel shaped rosettes, which each have luminous orange raceme protruding from them. This mix of bold, bright colours makes for an excellent addition to an indoor plant display. The appearance of the raceme usually signifies the end of the rosette; however, if the plant has been kept in good condition, you may find new shoots appearing at the base.
This plant ideally needs a constant warm temperature of about 15 °C, with regular misting of the leaves throughout the summer. Be careful not to overwater – make sure the soil dries out between watering.
